So, since school started last month, I have been MIA from the world of JoeUser and Stardock and whatnot...
I know, ya missed me It's alright though, I won't tell anybody.
So, as a filler for those who may happen to stumble upon this, I'm a sophomore Computer Science major at the University of Michigan (it's in the States for those who haven't heard of it) Since I came into my freshman year with 30 credits (through this and that) I was "technically" a sophomore last year but it doesn't really make a difference... It just means I get to take fun classes instead of additional math, physics and chemistry...
So, let me begin to say, college life is quite enjoyable for those who haven't experienced it before. Ann Arbor (where UMich is located) is an integrated college/town that is maybe one of the prettiest campuses I've seen (next to Harvard... that place is nice...)
So, classes started... That means homework needed to be done, programs needed to be made and parties needed to be attended. Oh, plus Mario Kart Wii needed to be pwnd but that's a different story... But, on top of all of this, one does need to sleep... A task largely neglected by college students.
Now, let me just say, I love sleep. I would sleep all day if I could and in fact I have (earlier this week i slept from 1 AM to 5 PM, twas a fantastic day that ended with watching a sneak preview of "The Express", a fairly good movie about the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy, y'all should see it when it comes out).
But, low and behold, I have weird levels of melatonin in my body... For those who haven't heard of melatonin, it helps to control your Circadian Cycle, your bodies natural internal clock (ya know, tells you when to sleep cause its night and when to wake up cause its morning, etc.). So, when I don't sleep at the appropriate times or I eat at weird times, I can't sleep for weeks (even with my additional melatonin supplement pills )
So, the only way to fix the problem is to pull an all nighter (something I DESPISE doing) and then reseting my feeding and sleep schedule the next day. This all nighter was different then most of all nighters though... I actually did stuff... Like... Productive stuff! Like... laundry... The feeling of putting warm boxers on right out of the dryer... Best feeling EVER.
So, when my laundry was done I had the greatest idea ever... Go running. Now, I'm a fairly athletic kid. But whatever activity I do, it generally involves sprints, not consistent running (ex: my favorite sport is Ultimate Frisbee... Basically sprint this way then relax a bit, then sprint that way, relax a bit, repeat). I realized... running a mile isn't that far. However, running a mile at an 8 minute pace in the 30 degree F (basically 0 degree C) weather of an Ann Arbor morning with Raynauds is NOT a smart idea... Got back to my room and I felt like my ears and fingers were gonna fall off... Luckily I had all that warm laundry from the dryer to keep me warm
Now that my sleep schedule is back on track, I think I may be able to actually go back to coding on the side... I have to make the board game "Sorry!" for class first... But then hopefully I'll go back to making dynamic dreams and MAYBE delve into making some DesktopX goodies . If anybody has some basic ideas for either one (remember... I'm still in the learning process here) feel free to message me or comment
But, other then that, school is going pretty fantastically... Discrete Mathematics = funny symbols but easy... Programming&Data Structures = easier c++ the dreams. intro to psychology = too much reading . ROCKET SCIENCE = just frickin awesome... honestly, how could I resist a course with a name like Rocket Science? Plus the other stardock intern from last summer is in the class. Yay friends
Well, thanks for reading... I hope nobody else reading this is pulling an all nighter... Yea, that's right. I'm on to you guys...
