Another week at Stardock
Published on July 11, 2008 By dream-er In Just Hanging Out

So it's Friday. And a grand Friday it has been. A promising weekend lies ahead, despite the news forcast saying "IT SHALL RAIN FOREVER AND EVER." But oh well. I decided that it would be nice to have a few blog entrees about the weeks events. You know, blow some steam before the weekend after a "stressful" work week.

So, first off, introduction. I'm one of 3 Jeff's currently working at Stardock (and unfortunately I sit right behind a far more important Jeff then myself, so I've learned to ignore my own name ). I'm interning over the summer to make a little extra cash and more importantly learn a lot more about programming and how things work in a software company.

In a few months, I'll be going back to school in Ann Arbor to attend the University of Michigan where I'm going to be a second year Computer Science student at the College of Engineering. It's exciting, especially when you pay in-state tuition .

So here at Stardock, I create Dynamic Dreams for DeskScapes. They're pretty cool... None of them have been released yet but hopefully soon my work will be approved by the various people that need to approve it and then they'll be up for sale (yes, sorry, paid dreams only for me)!

So, hopefully that was a good enough intro, here's the scoop of this week...

----Work----

Currently in the process of creating my second dream. Things are going well so far... It should be done soon. Collision detection may be the worst thing ever invented. Honestly, why does a computer program that mimics real life HAVE to include physics? Why can't objects go through each other? Why do things have to bounce and move and do all that stuff? Oh yes... I DESPISE collision detection because it's tedious but once it works, it is the one thing that leaves a lasting impact on the project. Oh, and yes, my dreams have moving objects that bounce off eachother and have MOUSE CONTROL (omg no wayz!).

I learned today that my first dream, while it works on most computers, does not work on all because of one silly little file that is completely worthless. So worthless in fact, that nobody can figure out which file makes it break. But, the super-brains here at Stardock are giving me a hand to make sure that everything gets sorted out, which I think is terribly kind of them .

Also, I started a little side project to do during my free time for the one and only ZubaZ. It's top secret too. But it'll be cool.

----Play----

I was kind of bummed because one of my good friends left to visit Israel a few weeks ago but, another friend recently came back from Israel so huzzah! Friend #2 goes to school in Israel and just finished his first year there so it's nice to have him back. Finally somebody I can challenge in Guitar Hero. And he just got Rockband. Double score.

----Overall----

This week has been nice. It hasn't been too stressful and my dream here is coming along nicely and cooperating. I'm excited for it to be finished. Then I can start on another. Oh I love work.

I hope we have a nice weekend. I haven't been able to play frisbee in quite some time because of the weather. Also a good friend of mine and her boy friend challenged me and another friend to game of 2-on-2 basketball. I cannot wait to destroy them .

Have a good weekend to anybody who's reading! Peace out

Ahhhh, the fun of having dynamic dreams working fine on most computers and then crashing badly for some other people! Good luck

Woo woo!  I got a mention!

All the hard precedent work on that super-secret project was done by [2of3].  I just stand around and look pretty . . telling other folks what I like and don't like.  As usual, I am the least of us.

Thanks for the update dreamer!
